Michael R. Taylor

 Dr. Taylor served as President of Stanly Community College for fifteen years. He served as academic vice-president at both Stanly Community College and Caldwell Community College for six years. In addition, he worked in continuing education at the Dean and Directors level at Lenoir Community College and Guilford Technical Community College for a total of 32 years in the North Carolina community college system. During his tenure as President at Stanly he was also liaison for community college presidents with the state-wide student government association. In 2009 that group recognized his contributions by honoring him with the Ray Jefferies award for service to the state-wide student government organization. In 2010 that same group named a student award for community service in his honor. In 2011 he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
